The Adored Blue
A book project exploring how I can recreate blue both through natural and chemical methods. Some of these methods include cyanotypes, creating natural blue dye and capturing blue light.
As a child, blue was a colour I adored and it has been resilient throughout my life. However, the blue I am the most drawn to is when I observe it in a natural occurrence. Seeing a regular blue object is not as fascinating to me. It is not as rare, nor as valuable, as when I see blue in a pearl, in a feather of a bird, in a stone, or in a blue light for instance. However, I am still intrigued by how blue can be replicated through technology and chemicals. Additionally, I wish to challenge what we categorize as blue, as our perception is limited and our relation to blue is often dependent on associations to blue rather than reality.
